Services
The practice offers a wide range of services which you can read about below
Consultant Out-patient Clinics
We are pleased to be able to provide Consultant-led Out-patient clinics for General Surgery, General Medicine, Gynaecology, ENT and Dermatology. These are provided at the Sturry Surgery to allow our patients access to Out-patient services closer to home and can be accessed by referral from a GP.
Contraception
If you require contraception advice please make an appointment with one of our trained Nurses.
Counselling
We have counsellors available at both of our sites from a provider called KCA which your Doctor can refer you to or you can also self-refer. Other counselling services are also available in the area and your Doctor can advise on what is available if you would prefer to use a different service.
Dispensing at Sturry Surgery
The Practice provides a dispensary service for patients living one mile as the crow flies from a chemist, or on the grounds of serious difficulty. If you wish to avail yourself of this service please ask for a form at Reception.
Immunisations
All children should have completed a course of immunisations by the age of five. Once registered, your child will be entered on to the Recall system.
Maternity Care
If you think you are pregnant, please see your Doctor as soon as possible so that your antenatal care can begin. Your care will be overseen by the Community Midwife.
Medical Examinations
If you require a medical examination for insurance policies, HGV or PSV drivers, elderly drivers, sport purposes etc these can be arranged by appointment. Your Doctor will usually be able to complete insurance claim forms but please allow a minimum of seven working days notice. You will also need to complete a consent form giving the Doctor authorisation to complete the claim form.
A charge for these and for issuing private certificates will be made in line with the recommended BMA scale.
We do not sign passport or driving licence application forms.
NHS Health Checks
NHS Health checks are offered to people between the ages of 40 and 74 once every 5 years. The tests that you have as part of your NHS Health Check will help you and your healthcare professional discuss changes that you might need to make to reduce your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
Phlebotomy
If you require a blood test this can be taken at the surgery by one of our nurses by booking an appointment. Alternatively you can attend the Pathology department at the hospital to have your blood taken.
